Some weddings you walk away from knowing you were lucky to be there. Amber and Neven Hart's wedding on February 26, 2026 was one of those.

I photographed their day at Canopy Grove by Wedgewood Weddings in San Diego, California, with my husband Zane alongside me on video. Amber and Neven have over a million followers across TikTok and Instagram, but none of that was present on the day. It was just two people, their closest people, and a ceremony that meant everything.

About Amber and Neven

If you follow the interabled couple space on TikTok or Instagram, you may already know Amber and Neven. Together they have over one million followers across both platforms.

In 2022, Neven was in a dirt biking accident that left him with a spinal cord injury and reliant on a wheelchair. Amber was with him early on, they met just months before the accident. They got engaged in 2023, on the one-year anniversary of that accident, which tells you a lot about who they are as a couple.

Less than two weeks before the wedding, they announced they were expecting their first baby together. Given that doctors had given them roughly a one percent chance of conceiving naturally, the news hit differently. They found out on Valentine's Day and shared the news publicly on February 14. Their due date is July 2026.

San Diego in February

San Diego is one of those places that makes a photographer's job genuinely easier. February there means mild temperatures, soft natural light, and zero weather anxiety. While most of the country is dealing with cold and grey, Escondido is sitting at comfortable daytime highs with clear skies and golden hour that actually shows up on time.

It is one of the reasons Southern California stays busy for weddings year round. The conditions are just consistently good, and Escondido specifically sits inland enough to have a warmer, drier microclimate than the coast. For outdoor ceremonies, that matters.

The Venue

Canopy Grove by Wedgewood Weddings is a beautiful property. Mature trees frame the ceremony space and create natural shade and texture without needing much additional decor to make it work visually. The backdrop is organic and clean, which photographs well regardless of the time of day.

Wedgewood Weddings runs a tight operation. Ceremony and reception both happen on the same property, the coordination is smooth, and the staff know how to keep things moving without it feeling rushed. As a photographer traveling in from out of state, that kind of venue organization makes a real difference. You can focus on the work instead of managing logistics.

The Ceremony

Here is what you need to know about Neven. He sustained a spinal cord injury in 2022 and uses a wheelchair in daily life. On his wedding day, he walked down the aisle using a walker, with leg braces beneath his dress pants.

I have photographed a lot of processionals. That one was different. The room knew it, Amber knew it, and the camera caught all of it.

They also wrote their own vows, which is always a good call. No borrowed words, no template. Just what they actually wanted to say to each other. Those tend to be the most photographable moments of any ceremony and this was no exception.

The Reception

The reception followed at the same venue with a close group of family and friends. Intimate guest lists like this one create a completely different energy than large receptions. People are relaxed, the moments are genuine, and candid photography basically takes care of itself.

Neven and Amber brought the same ease to the reception that they carried through the whole day. No pretense, no performance. Just genuinely happy people celebrating something that took a long time and a lot of hard work to get to.
