Hello there.
Meet Sierra Sturt
It is lovely to meet you
Hello there — I’m Sierra. I’m a wedding, proposal, and couples photographer based in Vail, Colorado, documenting honest moments and elevated celebrations with a calm, intentional, docu-editorial approach. I work with couples who value experience just as much as imagery — those who want to be fully present on their wedding day while trusting it’s being documented with care and intention.
I’m drawn to real connection, thoughtful design, and the moments that unfold naturally when people feel comfortable and fully present.
I believe photography should feel effortless on the day it’s created.
My role is to help you feel grounded, present, and supported — not staged or rushed — so your photos reflect the experience you actually lived, not a version of it performed for the camera.
I’ll guide when needed, step back when moments deserve space, and always prioritize how the experience feels, not just how it looks.
I currently call Vail, Colorado home.
When I’m not photographing or behind my computer, you’ll find me outside — hiking, skiing, or spending time with friends — taking full advantage of everything this place has to offer.
This environment shapes how I see and document moments: grounded, natural, and deeply connected to place.
My Philosophy
The most meaningful images come from presence, not perfection.
I’m inspired by honest emotion, subtle interactions, and the quiet in-between moments that often go unnoticed.
My work blends documentary storytelling with a refined, editorial influence — creating imagery that feels elevated yet natural, timeless yet deeply personal.
Because years from now, what matters most isn’t just how it looked — it’s how it felt.
What It’s Like to Work Together
Couples often describe working with me as calm, reassuring, and fun.
From the planning process through final gallery delivery, I’m intentional about communication, preparation, and support. I take time to understand your priorities, your dynamic, and the flow of your day.
Whether that means helping shape a timeline, scouting locations, or simply being a steady presence when things feel overwhelming — I’m there for all of it.
On your wedding day, I’ll guide when needed, fade into the background when it matters most, and keep your experience at the center of everything I do.

FAQ

What made you pick up a camera?
I photographed my first wedding and that was it — I immediately started mapping out how to leave my corporate job. I fell head over heels for documenting human connection and honestly never looked back. Seven years later it's still the honor of a lifetime.
What's your favorite moment of a wedding day?
The in-between ones — always. Your mom squeezing your hand before you walk down the aisle. Your friends completely losing it on the dance floor. The pure joy on your face right after you're announced married. Those blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments are what I live for.
What do couples say working with you is like?
That it felt easy and fun — which is exactly what I'm going for. I want your wedding day to feel relaxed and joyful, not like you're being directed by a photographer. Most couples tell me they forgot I was even there, which is honestly the best compliment I could get.
How many weddings do you take per year?
I keep my calendar intentionally limited so every couple gets my full attention and energy. I'd rather be fully present for a smaller number of weddings than spread thin across too many. It's part of how I make sure every gallery I deliver is something I'm truly proud of.
What's life like in Vail outside of work?
Honestly, lovely. I live here with my husband and we spend as much time outside as possible. I'm a coffee lover, a board game enthusiast, and someone who genuinely believes the Mountain West is the most beautiful place on earth. The scenery and energy here inspire everything I do — you can feel it in the work.
