A 25th wedding anniversary is a milestone that not only marks the passage of time but also stands as a testament to enduring love, commitment, and the strength of a partnership. Recently, I had the privilege of photographing a remarkable couple's celebration in the picturesque town of Vail, Colorado. What made this anniversary session truly special was the couple's unique and humorous secret to their enduring marriage — "the woman is always right."

As a photographer, I have the privilege of capturing the stories of the couples I work with. This particular couple had weathered the storms of life for 25 years, and their love had not only endured but flourished over time. The journey of their marriage, with its highs and lows, was etched into their faces and the warmth in their smiles. They were both super nervous, because the last time they had had photos taken was their wedding day. But, once we got moving they were total naturals and looked absolutely beautiful in their photos. Many people let the anxiety of not being good in front of the camera takeaway from the fun they should be having!

Choosing the stunning backdrop of Vail in spring was an easy decision. The weather was perfect, with the snow-capped mountains providing a majestic setting, and the emerging greenery adding a touch of freshness to the surroundings. The charming village of Lionshead, in Vail with its iconic landmarks, set the stage for a memorable photography session. They were both super excited to get to take these photos around the village, being that there weren't many people!

Our session began in the heart of the village, where we captured the couple against the backdrop of some iconic landmarks. Laughter echoed through the streets as we immortalized the joyous moments of this milestone celebration. Moving to a nearby picnic area, we transitioned to capturing candid moments that spoke volumes about the couple's connection and shared history.

Amidst the laughter and shared glances, one theme resonated throughout our time together — their shared philosophy that "the woman is always right." This light-hearted mantra, which they embraced with humor and affection, seemed to encapsulate the essence of their enduring bond. It was evident that this belief wasn't about right or wrong but rather a symbol of mutual respect and the willingness to navigate life's journey hand in hand.

This 25th wedding anniversary photography session in Vail, Colorado, was more than just a job; it was a joyous celebration of love, commitment, and the unique quirks that make each relationship special. The couple's laughter echoed against the mountains, and the love that had stood the test of time was palpable in every photograph.

As a witness to this remarkable celebration, I am honored to have played a small role in capturing the essence of a 25-year journey. Love, laughter, and the willingness to embrace each other's uniqueness — these are the threads that weave a tapestry of a lasting marriage. The secret this couple shared, "the woman is always right," served as a reminder that sometimes, the key to a successful partnership is found in the lightness of humor and the strength of mutual respect. May their journey continue to be filled with love, laughter, and many more years of shared joy. Cheers to 25 years and beyond!

A significant aspect of the photography session that added a unique charm was the choice of timing during the slow season in Lionshead Village, Vail, Colorado. Opting for a session during this quieter period allowed us to capture the couple against the backdrop of Vail's iconic landmarks with a sense of tranquility. The streets, typically bustling with activity, were more serene, offering us the opportunity to create images that highlighted the couple's connection amidst the peaceful surroundings. The slower pace also facilitated a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere, allowing us to capture genuine moments without the distraction of a bustling crowd. The couple's love, framed against the snow-covered mountains and emerging greenery, resonated even more profoundly in the quiet charm of Lionshead Village during the off-season. This choice not only contributed to the visual appeal of the photographs but also added an extra layer of significance to their 25th-anniversary celebration in Vail.

When considering the location for your anniversary photos, it's essential to reflect on a few key questions to ensure the chosen setting aligns with the essence of your relationship and the memories you wish to create:

What does this location mean to us?

Reflect on places that hold sentimental value, such as where you first met or a location significant to your journey together.

Indoor or Outdoor?

Determine whether you prefer the intimacy of an indoor setting or the natural beauty of an outdoor landscape.

Seasonal Considerations:

Are you drawn to the lush greenery of spring, the warmth of summer, the vibrant colors of fall, or the snowy charm of winter?

Quiet Moments or Vibrant Atmosphere?

Decide if you want a serene, intimate session or if you thrive in the energy of a bustling location.

Time of Day:

Consider whether you want the soft hues of sunrise or sunset, the bright natural light of midday, or the romantic ambiance of evening.

Symbolic Locations:

Are there landmarks or places that symbolize milestones in your relationship? Consider incorporating them into your session.

Comfort Level:

Evaluate your comfort in public spaces. Some may prefer private locations, while others thrive in more open, public settings.

Activities or Hobbies:

Think about activities or hobbies you both enjoy. Incorporating these into your session can add a personal touch and genuine moments.

Weather Tolerance:

Consider your tolerance for different weather conditions, especially if you're planning an outdoor shoot. Make sure the chosen location aligns with your comfort level.

Photographer's Input:

Consult with your photographer. They may have suggestions based on their experience and knowledge of the area, ensuring a perfect blend of aesthetics and sentiment.

Asking yourselves these questions will not only help you decide on the ideal location for your anniversary photos but will also help the session feel authentic and exciting to you two and all those that will love these photos.
