About the proposal

On a cold Sunday morning at the top of Beaver Creek Mountain, David was carrying more than just ski gear, he had a ring in his pocket and a plan to ask Kim to spend the rest of her life with him. They rode the ski lift with their cousins like any other win ter day, but David had a secret. A few days earlier, he and I worked out the details: where to stop, which lifts to take, and how to get to the perfect proposal spot. At the summit, surrounded by snowy pines and mountain views, David pulled Kim aside. With a short and honest speech, he told her how much she meant to him and how ready he was for their next chapter together. Then he popped the question. Kim said yes, and they celebrated with family just moments later. I was there to photograph it all—quietly capturing the emotion, the backdrop, and the realness of the moment.

What to Know About Beaver Creek Mountain

Beaver Creek is a world-class ski resort near Vail, Colorado. It’s known for its great snow, beautiful scenery, and more relaxed, upscale vibe. If you’re looking for a proposal spot that feels a little more private than some of the busier Colorado mountains, this is a great option.

Why propose at Beaver Creek?

  • Incredible mountain views
  • Less crowded than nearby resorts
  • Easy access via ski lifts and gondolas
  • Plenty of dining and lodging options for celebrating after

How to Plan a Proposal on Beaver Creek Mountain

If you’re thinking about popping the question here, here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Pick the Right Spot

Some popular proposal locations at Beaver Creek include:

  • The summit via the Centennial Express lift
  • Red Buffalo trail overlook
  • Secluded wooded spots just off the main trails

Each has its pros—some are more scenic, others more private.

2. Plan Around the Weather and Crowds
  • Mornings are usually quieter and offer the best light for photos. Weekdays are also less crowded. I always help couples figure out the timing and logistics to make it go smoothly.

3. Hire a Photographer Familiar With the Mountain
  • There’s a lot to coordinate when planning a ski proposal: timing, terrain, lighting, and making sure you’re not surrounded by other skiers. I’ll guide you through all of that and help keep things stress-free.

4. Think About What Happens After
  • Whether you want to meet up with family, go for an après-ski drink, or take more engagement photos around the mountain, it’s worth planning a little extra time to enjoy the moment.
